About Devean M. Bush

More Than a Candidate. A Brother on a Mission

Leadership doesn’t start with a title, it starts with purpose.

I’m Devean M. Bush, a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., a student leader, and most importantly, a brother deeply committed to uplifting others and amplifying the voices of collegiate brothers across the nation. As I offer myself as a candidate for International Second Vice President, I bring more than a campaign I bring a calling. My commitment is to serve with integrity, to lead with compassion, and to represent the needs and hopes of collegiate brothers nationwide with boldness and clarity.
My journey in Sigma began long before my collegiate years. I was raised in the Sigma Beta Club under the Delta Theta Sigma Chapter, where I learned firsthand the value of mentorship, discipline, and legacy. It was there that the seeds of brotherhood, scholarship, and service were planted in me. As a first-generation college student, I know what it means to navigate uncharted territory. I carry the hopes of my family and community with me, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. Mentorship has always been more than a program it has been my lifeline. It is why I’m so passionate about giving back and pouring into others. I want to make a lasting difference in the lives of young men who, like me, are trying to rise above circumstance and become everything they were born to be. Our collegiate are essential, and therefore their presence and voice matter.

I am currently a rising junior at Jackson State University, majoring in Business Marketing. I proudly hail from Cincinnati, Ohio. Within my chapter I work to strengthen both our internal structure and our external impact through economic empowerment and innovation.
My leadership also extends across campus. I’ve had the honor of serving as Mister Freshman during the 2023–2024 academic year, participating in the Blue S.T.R.E.A.K. Mentee Program, representing the JSU Cincinnati Alumni Chapter as a Student Ambassador, holding the role of Junior Class Treasurer, and serving as an Officer for the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). Each of these roles has sharpened my leadership, expanded my perspective, and deepened my resolve to be a servant-leader who listens, learns, and leads with humility.
Every day, I strive to be the best version of myself because I believe that when one of us rises, we all rise. I know what it feels like to need a hand, to dream big with limited resources, and to walk by faith. That’s why I lead. That’s why I serve. And that’s why I’m running to be a voice for the next generation of leaders within our wondrous band who believe that brotherhood, scholarship, and service aren’t just ideals they’re a way of life.

Why I'm Running

This campaign isn’t about chasing a title it’s about building a platform where every collegiate brother feels heard, seen, and valued. I believe that our voices carry power, and our impact reaches far beyond chapter lines. Whether it’s on our campuses, in our communities, or throughout our great fraternity, we are already shaping the culture we just need a seat at the table to amplify it.

I’m running to represent us to organize, inspire, and mobilize collegiate brothers from every region. I’m running to build bridges between chapters, foster unity, and elevate the standard of undergraduate leadership. Because undergraduate brothers aren’t just the future of Phi Beta Sigma we are the right now. This is our moment, and I’m ready to lead with purpose, passion, and pride.
